Always Catholic, an excellent Traditional Catholic blog, has posted a piece on Elizabeth Kilbride who has authored a book, called "Soul of An American Warrior", which is being touted for both its content and raising funds in support of three navy seals who were accused of "abusing a terrorist" and for their subsequent defense.

Elizabeth Kilbride and Father’s Press Publishing announced they would donate $4 from the sale of Kilbride’s book “Soul of An American Warrior” to the Navy SEAL’s Defense Fund.

LEE SUMMIT, MO – Kilbride’s donation is aimed at helping to offset the overwhelming legal fees associated with defending three U.S. Navy SEALs – SO2 Matthew McCabe, SO2 Jonathan Keefe and SO1 Julio Huertas – who have been charged with abuse of a terrorist insurgent.

“Matt McCabe and his fellow SEALs have the best possible legal representation. The best comes with a price tag,” Kilbride said firmly. Mike Smitley, owner of Father’s Press Publishing, said, “Having been to Iraq with our warriors, then writing about them, Kilbride knows their sacrifices first-hand, which is why she wanted to do more than just verbally give her support. We intend to help these SEALs by providing them with two strategic weapons to help them fight their battle — a book to help educate their fellow Americans and some funds to help in their defense.”

At the invitation of a Marine Corps general, who was impressed by her book on World War II, Elizabeth Kilbride accompanied a Marine unit to Iraq for five weeks in the spring of 2006. This is a memoir of that journey along with one to battlefields in Vietnam.


In her own words, “I went from the average DC resident to boom, being in a war zone—no basic training for me…. Each one of the Marines made me feel like I was a part of their unit—a unique opportunity for a writer to have.” But though treated “as if I were their sister,” the ride was not all honeymoon for Kilbride. She quickly learned that “Independent media…are treated as their considered second-class citizens, unless you are a big name reporter.” Nonetheless, this was a “defining moment” in her life that would not have been possible if she were a “big name reporter.” She learned that there’s another side to the story in Iraq that’s not being reported by the media, a story “of our Armed Forces who are performing such amazing acts of compassion to help others in our name.” Kilbride reports this story with deft insight and a passion for truth. Especially provocative is her accusation that politicians and reporters exploit the armed services for political and personal gain by focusing solely on bombings and terrorist attacks. Consequently, the American people are ignorant of the good things the warriors are accomplishing in Iraq. “The forgotten warriors of this war are the Marines of the Al Anbar Province. This is probably because they do not complain, and are rarely mentioned in the media, unless there have been casualties.” This is a gross injustice that Kilbride claims can only be rectified by drastic action. “It is very clear when you consider the evidence being presented to us that there needs to be a complete change on Capitol Hill in upcoming elections. Both House and Senate need to be cleared out completely.” The media must also be held accountable for promoting mistrust and lies about the armed forces. “While the media plays politics using our military as fodder in their reports during war, they are aiding the enemy. This is a form of treason, which is dangerous and deadly to those in uniform….the media can take credit for any casualties, both during Vietnam and in the war in Iraq.” Bold words indeed. But how is this change in political opinion to take place? That everyone read Soul of American Warriors? Though she might like this, Kilbride suggests that the answer can only come when every American experiences a “defining moment,” like she has had. One profound suggestion is that every American visit a battlefield, walk inside a bunker, and feel the horror of war still residing there. This gutsy book lacks the grammatical polish of mainstream journalism, but rightfully so, since this is a dispatch directly from the heart. This book is highly recommended for relatives and friends of service members being deployed to a war zone. Every library serving a U.S. military community should acquire it.

Navy Seal Found Not Guilty Over Beating of Terrorist Suspect

One Navy Seal has been rightly or justly found not guilty.  The truth has prevailed and now I hope that the truth prevails with the other two trials.  This could have been all avoided if their commander, or General in charge had just handled this properly, but he didn't.  He could have just talked to the Navy Seals if he felt that their treatment of the terrorist was harsh.  PLus, that is one method in the terrorists playbook- to make false accusations. Wars, during American history, have not been won by being nice to our enemy.  These Navy Seals are heroes for capturing one member of our enemy, who so brutally murdered our contractors in Iraq.  Petty Officer 1st Class Julio Huertas, 28, was found not guilty by a six-man military jury of dereliction of duty by failing to stop a colleague from punching the prisoner, Ahmed Hashim Abed. He was also acquitted on charges of trying to cover up the assault by influencing the testimony of another service member.


In one of the most notorious murders of the war in Iraq, the contractors' burned bodies were dragged through the streets and two were hanged from a bridge over the Euphrates river in the former insurgent hotbed of Fallujah.

The verdict will be welcomed by veterans groups and other supporters in the United States, where the case has brought calls from congressmen for the department of defence to step in and stop the trial.

But attention will now turn to two remaining cases arising from the incident, against the man accused of committing the alleged assault, Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew McCabe, and against Petty Officer 2nd Class Jonathan Keefe, who is also accused of failing to intervene.

The Iraqi was arrested in a operation conducted by Seals, the naval branch of the US special forces, last September. He is accused of masterminding the kidnapping, killing and burning of four private contractors working for the Blackwater security firm in Fallujah in 2004. One of the men was a former Seal.

And, then, a cataclysmic earthquake rocked the Democratic world last Tuesday when Scott Brown was elected as Senator of Massachusetts. After Tuesday, certain people like Jim Webb, Barney Frank, and Evan Bayh have had some healing of their amoebic diseases and are backpedaling on health care "reform." But others like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and President Obama still have this parasitic disease taking over their lives and insisting on forcing health care "reform" down our throats even though a majority of citizens want the Dems version of health care "reform" stopped. They are promoting tyranny and ignoring the will of the people. The people of MA have spoken because of the following: Democrats and their demagoguery of Obama, his “hope and change” mantra that in fact spawned a new wave of corruption to the enth degree, the realization of Obama campaign trail lies, lack of transparency, lack of bi-partisanship, radicalism and the Obama’s “re-making” or radicalizing of America, abandoning the principles laid out by our Founding Fathers, Democrats abandoning the rules of military law and American principles by accommodating terrorists or enemy combatants in giving them added benefits and rights only due to a civilian in America. Yes, this is the reason people voted for Scott Brown on Tuesday. But, unfortunately there is still an amoebic parasitic disease running rampant through the veins of Pelosi, Reid, Obama and their ilk.

This administration is confusing our brave men and women in the military who are serving overseas on how exactly they should handle captured terrorists on the battlefield with regards to miranda rights. How ludicrous, giving miranda rights to our enemy. This is so absurd. First, Obama has been appeasing and apologizing to the world and showing great weakness to other countries. He decides to close Gitmo to please his liberal base without having a plan on how to do so. That is a sign of an inept leader. That is a leader not having a clue. Maybe, the amoebic parasite has taken over his body and he's insane? What sane person would do and allow for these ludicrous and unconscionable things?

Obama is spreading the “love” of the terrorists all around, some to NYC, some to Thomson Correctional Facility in Illinois, some back to terrorist sympathizing countries, and some are staying in Gitmo whereby all these are endangering many, many American lives. Lo and behold the terrorists have filed complaints to stop their transfer to Thomson so that they can stay at Gitmo. If Gitmo is really all that bad than why do the terrorists want to stay at Gitmo? Or is it that the left has demonized Gitmo falsely?

Eric Holder and Obama are a bunch of cherry picking people who are political opportunists cherry picking principles of the Geneva Convention for political expediency. Eric Holder and Obama has been cherry picking the application of the Geneva convention rules and also cherry picking which detainees the Geneva Convention applies to. They are skirting around International military laws to fit their own political agenda instead of actually caring about the safety of American citizens. This is unconscionable!!! But, putting politics over American safety is not a new concept for Democrats.

The Obama administration is bending over backwards and accommodating a terrorist who is accusing a Navy Seal of punching him while the terrorist was being detained and transferred. If the Navy Seal’s accuser is not able to come to the United States than the charges should be dropped immediately. In fact, the Seals should have never been charged in the first place. The Navy Seals captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq- mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. But, this administration is forcing one those Navy Seal's, who is accused of punching a terrorist (oh poor baby terrorist!!), and this administration is dragging him to face his terrorist accuser all the way to Iraq because for some odd reason the terrorist can’t be brought to the U.S. This is one of the most ridiculous, abhorrent and unamerican things to ever to be done in the history of the United States. All of these inconsistencies are incomprehensible. Obama’s methods of engaging terrorism is one of complete chaos. This just blows my mind. This is unconscionable!! These three Navy Seals should be revered as heroes and instead our military or one commander and the Obama administration has made a mockery of Navy seals bringing justice to this terrorist. The terrorist is playing both the military and the Obama administration for fools. Well, It is obvious that this amoebic parasitic disease is spreading and is affecting people's mental abilities. We must keep up fighting the good fight against these amoebas.

Support Navy Seals: Drop Outrageous Charges

These Navy Seals were merely doing their jobs. They were going after and capturing the terrorists who killed four Americans. This is war, folks. The troops are not playing some sort of game like childhood playmates. This is about life and death.  And, these terrorists murdered four Americans. They deserved to be roughed up a bit IMHO. These Navy Seals should be rewarded with medals for protecting America and defending our freedom. It is ludicrous for our troops to have to worry about some terrorist filing a complaint every time some wartime injury happens during battle. If we had these pussies around filing these outrageous complaints in WWII and in earlier wars, the United States would have never won any battles, or wars. And, the probability of the U.S. and its citizens still being free at present day are very slim. So, please let our troops do their jobs. The charges must be dropped. If not, then the U.S. government and the Navy are betraying their soldiers. Please, pass this video along.
