Bush Says Keystone Pipeline Is a 'No-Brainer', If Obama Only Had a Brain

"The clear goal ought to be how to get the private sector to grow"

From bloomberg via HotAirPundit:
Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry oil from landlocked Alberta to the U.S. Gulf Coast, is a “no-brainer” that would create jobs and bolster the economy, former President George W. Bush said.

The $7.6 billion Keystone XL line would generate private- sector employment and government revenue, he said at an American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers conference in San Diego. The U.S. government’s budget deficit is unsustainable and must be reduced by supporting industry, Bush said.

The clear goal ought to be how to get the private sector to grow,” said Bush, who spoke during a luncheon at the conference. “If you say that, then an issue like the Keystone pipeline becomes an easy issue.”

President Barack Obama denied a U.S. State Department permit for the 1,661-mile (2,673-kilometer) pipeline in January because of concern that it posed risks to environmentally sensitive areas in Nebraska. Republican senators, including John Hoeven of North Dakota, vowed last week to try again to speed approval of the line after failing to round up enough Democratic support for an amendment that would have expedited the project.

The Senate failed today to adopt a separate amendment proposed by Republican Senator Pat Roberts of Kansas that would have allowed TransCanada to build the pipeline

Rick Santelli Talks Shrinkage... And Today's Jobs Numbers

Rick Santelli reported the fact that 1.2 million people dropped out of the labor force in one month. Just because the unemployment rate drops doesn't necessarily mean that the economy is getting better. Definitely not at the pace that this administration portrays.  The rest of the Obama media continues to hide the real numbers behind the unemployment rate.

The labor participation rate has not been this low since 1983.

Paul Ryan Explains How To Fix Tax Code

I agree with Paul Ryan's ideas on how to fix our tax code. If we fix the tax code this would also help to boost our economy.

My Thoughts on The State of the Union Address

Here are Thoughts on both Obama's speech and Bob McDonnell's speech.

I hope that Obama and the Congress do focus primarily on job creation. But, with policies like Cap & Trade and Government run health care, I fear that they will be job killers. Obama played the blame game on many fronts. This has to stop!! There has been no president in history that has played the blame game so much like Obama has over the past year. He is such a freaking crybaby. Waaa!! Waaa!! That is not acting presidential, but rather like a whiny child. It is clear that the first stimulus failed. The Stimulus did not produce any new jobs. This country has lost around 2.8 million more jobs since the Porkulus was signed by Obama. Obama thinks that the economy is doing better and that we are out of a recession. That is a bunch of hooey. Is Obama living in some delusion? Or a quasi-reality? Just recently, there have been two bad signs that the economy has not recovered from this awful recession- the biggest decline in existing home sales in over 40 years. Existing home sales fell 17% and new home sales dropped more than expected, also. These are not signs of a recovery!! Obama is obviously not living in reality. Maybe, its wishful thinking on his part?

I thought Bob McDonnell's Republican response was quite impressive. He looked and sounded top notch. He talked about the common ground between Democrats and Republicans, while also pointing out the substantial differerences in policies like national security.  McDonnell also pointed out how Republicans have offered common sense alternatives to the Democrats health care bills. I love how McDonnell invoked Jefferson in his speech -- “It was Thomas Jefferson,” McDonnell said, “who called for ‘A wise and frugal government which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry .... and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned.’ He was right. Today, the federal government is simply trying to do too much.” I can't wait to hear more in the future from Bob McDonnell.

My Poem: On Airways-My Defense of Limbaugh Vs. Stimulus

Here is a poem that I created while the Porkulus, better known as the Stimulus, was being debated in Congress. Only Ten Percent of funds from the Stimulus have entered into our economic universe and so far it has shown to have been a complete crock, and a total waste of money for increasing jobs in both the recent past and at the present time. Where are the shovel ready jobs that Democrats said were ready and waiting for money? How's that hopey and changey happening for all you Obambi supporters? Well, so far only a few and far between number of jobs have been created, and how many actually came from the Stimulus is in question. I hope you enjoy this video and poem, that I created to defend Rush Limbaugh, and is a rant against the Porkulus.

On Airways

Rush Limbaugh stands for freedom on the airwaves

We are always glad when he's on the air

Saying no to failed policies

And the lefts hypocrosies

Free speech for all on the airwaves is fair

GOP needs to follow Rush"s example

Rush wants America to succeed

Setting libs straight with the truth

Obama wants to shut Rush up

Wishing voters had sense at the booth

Obama's just a pup

Liberals, don't keep free speech from the airwaves

Listen to Rush, and do not be Oprahbots

Say no to liberal giveaways

We need to follow the Reagan way

Say no to Government controlling us like robots

Rush keep on taking a stand for you and me

This Stimulus needs a miracle from God

Saying no to a prok filled bill

Dems on the hill, take a chill pill

There's so much pork in this bill I can smell

the bacon all the way from here

Eric Cantor- Republican Weekly Address

Eric Cantor, one of the leading members in the Republican Party gives The Republican Weekly Address:

Here is the text of Eric Cantor's Weekly Address:

Hello.
I’m House Republican Whip Eric Cantor and I have the great privilege of representing the hardworking people of Virginia’s seventh district.
American families and small businesses today are struggling. Republicans have put forth thoughtful, serious and comprehensive plans of action that put jobs first. We offered an economic recovery plan that would have revitalized struggling small businesses and helped middle-class families by putting Americans back to work. Yet, the President, in tandem with Democrats in Congress, have pushed through a $787 billion dollar bill full of pork barrel spending, government waste, and massive borrowing cleverly called ‘stimulus.’
There is no doubt that our nation faces many challenges, but the plain truth is that President Obama’s economic decisions have not produced jobs, have not produced prosperity, and simply have not worked. President Obama has already asked you to borrow trillions of dollars, and so far nearly 3 million jobs have been lost alone this year.
Remember the promises? They promised you that if you paid for their stimulus, jobs would be created immediately. In fact, they said that unemployment would stay under eight percent. Yet just months later, they are telling us to brace for unemployment to climb over ten percent. They promised jobs created. Now they scramble to find a way to play games with government numbers by claiming jobs saved.
Simply put, this is now President Obama’s economy and the American people are beginning to question whether his policies are working.
But that doesn’t mean we are out of options. Together, we can bring about a strong and real recovery. We can create an environment that empowers small businesses and American workers to thrive. We must focus on job creation and restoring the financial and retirement security lost by millions of Americans. And for the sake of our children and our long-term fiscal viability, Washington must stop spending money that it doesn’t have.
That’s why every day, my Republican colleagues and I are fighting to enact policies that will stabilize our economy, create jobs and ignite prosperity. You and your family deserve no less.
Since January, we have offered alternatives to the out-of-control, big government, Democrat agenda that unfortunately became law and has completely failed to create jobs. Our plan is simple and smart and its strength is that it doesn’t invest in Washington, it invests in the American people.
We believe Washington should stop its war on the Middle Class and reduce taxes so every hardworking, taxpaying-family in America will see an immediate increase in their income. A prosperous middle class is critical for our entire nation’s well being.
We believe Washington must stop targeting America’s small businesses and instead should empower them by allowing employers to take a tax deduction to free up funds to retain and hire new workers. Our history proves that it is the small businessmen and women who will reignite our economy by putting people back to work. Washington should get out of the way and encourage small business employers to start or grow a business.
Lastly, we believe Washington must be responsible for every taxpayer dollar that is spent. Washington MUST live within its means. We will not support taxes hikes to pay for even more so-called stimulus spending.
The overwhelming majority of Americans are working hard and are playing by the rules. They are providing for their families and doing their part to return America to the pinnacle of prosperity.
Their reward? Trillions more in debt. For the ‘stimulus’ alone, Washington borrowed nearly ten thousand dollars from every American household. Let me ask you: do you feel $10,000 richer today? Do you feel $10,000 better off? If you don’t, please know most people agree.
That is why we continue our fight because during these tough economic times, it often seems that Washington is offering you few choices except for spend and borrow. I’m here today to let you know there are alternatives – common-sense tax relief; smart and necessary reductions in spending, and intelligent policies that do not bankrupt our nation.
That is why I’m asking you to join our fight for accountability and common-sense. Call your Congressman, your Senator, and your President and let them know that you think Washington should stop the reckless spending, stop the careless borrowing and stop the war on the Middle Class. We can do better and we will do better, but first we have to first come together to change what is going on. The time is critical, the choice is yours.
I’m Eric Cantor, and on behalf of my Republican colleagues, join with us to get Washington working for you once again.
Thank you for listening.
