John Bolton on Obama's Unprecedented Betrayal of Israel

This is more evidence that the Obama administration treats our allies like dirt while kissing up to our enemies.

Back in 2010 Nile Gardiner of The Telegraph compiled a list of Barack Obama's top ten insults against Israel.  Since then, this administration has continued with the insults and backstabbing against Israel. But  former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton calls this most recent betrayal by the Obama administration "unprecedented" and "merciless."

From Atlas Shrugs:

Former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton weighs in on Obama's relentless campaign to betray and undermine Israel. This leak is part of an ongoing campaign to thwart Israeli defense strategy against the Iranian genocidal threat.

"The pressure the administration has put on Israel has been just merciless behind the scenes."
"But nonetheless every evidence is that the pressure is failing, that the Israeli government will do what they think is necessary so the Obama administration has torqued it up a notch. Now they are going to reveal very sensitive, very important information that will allow Iran to defeat an Israel attack."

It should have been Bolton going up against the Mansourian candidate.

UPDATE: More: Bolton accuses administration of leaking story on Israeli planning along Iran border FOX News

Former U.S. diplomat John Bolton alleged Thursday that the Obama administration leaked a story about covert Israeli activity in order to foil potential plans by the country to attack Iran's nuclear program.

Bolton, who served as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations in the George W. Bush administration, was responding to an article in Foreign Policy magazine that quoted government sources claiming Israel had been granted access to airfields in Azerbaijan -- along Iran's northern border.

The article did not state exactly what the Israelis' intentions were, but it suggested it could point to a possible strike on Iran.

"I think this leak today is part of the administration's campaign against an Israeli attack," Bolton claimed on Fox News.

The White House did not respond to Bolton's claims Thursday.
Bolton, a Fox News contributor, noted that a strike launched from Azerbaijan would be much easier for the Israelis than a strike launched from their own country -- jets could stay over their targets longer and worry less about refueling. But he said tipping the Israelis' hand by revealing "very sensitive, very important information" could frustrate such a plan.

Speaking afterward to FoxNews.com, Bolton said he didn't have hard proof that this was an intentional administration leak to halt an Israeli attack.

But he noted widely reported comments from Defense Secretary Leon Panetta in February that he thinks the Israelis could strike as early as April. If that's the case, Bolton said, then it would be "entirely consistent" for the administration to try to avoid that impending outcome.

The Foreign Policy article quoted what were identified as "high-level sources ... inside the U.S. government." It specifically mentioned "four senior diplomats and military intelligence officers."

One intelligence officer, who was unnamed, told the magazine that the U.S. was "watching" the activity and was "not happy about it."

The Foreign Policy article did not specify whether any of the information came from the White House, and there is no direct evidence that this was a coordinated leak.
"Clearly, this is an administration-orchestrated leak," Bolton told FoxNews.com. "This is not a rogue CIA guy saying I think I'll leak this out."

"It's just unprecedented to reveal this kind of information about one of your own allies," Bolton said.

Stacy McCain is Right - Rick Santorum: "This is the little engine that could campaign"

Glenn Reynolds is dreaming in the land of Oz when he predicts that Rick Santorum will be the next candidate in the GOP field to drop out.  Santorum has some of the most ardent supporters who are willing to back him the whole way to the White House.  Stacy McCain is correct in his analysis.  Rick Santorum is riding on the bump which he received, and continues to receive from both his masterful debate performance and his unexpected fourth place finish in the Iowa Straw Poll.  It was quite unexpected for Santorum to do that well in the straw poll.  Pro-life Catholics and anti-Jihadists are probably Santorum's most ardent supporters, we are very loyal to him and aren't about to abandon Santorum for some other lesser candidate at this point in time.  Rick Santorum keeps on chugging along, working his hardest with a small amount of funds, relaying his message of liberty, religious freedom, economic policies to boost the economy, foreign policy agenda, immigration policy (specifically illegal immigration), and his staunch pro-life message to the American people.  Stacy rightly points out that Rick has even seen an uptick in online donations since last Thursday's debate.  He is gaining momentum so there is no reason for Rick Santorum to hang it up at this stage in the presidential race.  Now I'm not sure whether Newt Gingrich is going to be the next candidate to drop out of the race as Stacy predicts but it is certainly possible with all of his previous campaign troubles.  I think the next GOP candidate to drop out could be either McCotter or Huntsman.

Here is Rick Santorum's exchange with Ron Paul on Iran:

Every innocent human life is precious and Rick Santorum understands this as evidenced by his answer to an abortion question during the debate.

To display that his campaign is gaining momentum Rick Santorum has released a video touting his 4th place finish in the Iowa Straw Poll.

This was a great campaign description by Santorum. He said, "This is the little engine that could campaign".

Currently this movie is being distributed throughout the Basij and Revolutionary Guards’ bases. The producers are in the middle of translating it into Arabic with the purpose of mass distribution throughout the Middle East. Their intention is to incite further uprisings with the hopes of motivating Arabs to overthrow U.S. backed governments with the final goal of the annihilation of Israel and Allah’s governance of the world!

What's Next For Egypt?

The crowd in Cairo is jubilant!!  But, as much as they are wishing for democracy and freedom is this a be careful what you wish for moment?  The Egyptians have ousted Mubarak so what exactly lies in their future?  Does Egypt have the structure in place to be able to start a democracy?  Or is a Khumeini-like individual going to emerge to the forefront and misrepresent himself as being for the people like Khumeini did in Iran?   While I do see some signs of hope for the Egyptians' future I find it eerily similar due to the fact that this revolution and ousting of Mubarak the dictator happened on exactly the 32nd anniversary of the Shah falling in Iran.  Plus, we had a pro-Big Government president in 1979, named Jimmy Carter who royally screwed up our relations with the Middle East and now we have Obama who is an Ultra pro-Big Government president who is royally screwing up our Middle East relations again.  In addition, the way that both Carter interacted with the Middle East's leaders in the past and how Obama is interacting with Middle East leaders today, in screwing our allies while appeasing our enemies I wonder whose interests he's really looking out for?  It certainly doesn't look like Obama is looking out for America's best interests today.

I think that this is a momentous occasion which gives the people of Egypt the possibility of following the model of freedom and democracy, following in Iraq's footsteps.  As I was watching the news coverage of people shouting in the streets cheering in the streets shouting the word freedom in celebration of Mubarak having stepped down I saw in particular one person who said that he wanted democracy, that he wanted to follow the model of deomcracy in Iraq and I couldn't help but wonder whether Geroge W. Bush had a hand in today's events.  Without George Bush having the courage to stand up for freedom, not merely spouting words like other politicians,  would Iraq have become a beacon of democracy of freedom in the Middle East?  He was willing to walk the walk instead of just talking the talk and he toppled a ruthless dictator. Without Bush having initiated a democracy in Iraq would any of these uprisings in the Middle East and Africa have occurred?  Would they have had any hope to topple their leader who was oppressing them?  Hopefully, terrorist organizations such as the Muslim Brotherhood and terrorist sympathizers won't take advantage of this chaotic situation and fill the vacuum.  Now the military holds the keys and the future of Egypt is in the palm of the military's hand.

I thought it would be a good idea to look up Egypt's background on history, government makeup, demographics, and resources so here is a brief summary from the CIA World Factbook:

Background:

The regularity and richness of the annual Nile River flood, coupled with semi-isolation provided by deserts to the east and west, allowed for the development of one of the world's great civilizations. A unified kingdom arose circa 3200 B.C., and a series of dynasties ruled in Egypt for the next three millennia. The last native dynasty fell to the Persians in 341 B.C., who in turn were replaced by the Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines. It was the Arabs who introduced Islam and the Arabic language in the 7th century and who ruled for the next six centuries. A local military caste, the Mamluks took control about 1250 and continued to govern after the conquest of Egypt by the Ottoman Turks in 1517. Following the completion of the Suez Canal in 1869, Egypt became an important world transportation hub, but also fell heavily into debt. Ostensibly to protect its investments, Britain seized control of Egypt's government in 1882, but nominal allegiance to the Ottoman Empire continued until 1914. Partially independent from the UK in 1922, Egypt acquired full sovereignty with the overthrow of the British-backed monarchy in 1952. The completion of the Aswan High Dam in 1971 and the resultant Lake Nasser have altered the time-honored place of the Nile River in the agriculture and ecology of Egypt. A rapidly growing population (the largest in the Arab world), limited arable land, and dependence on the Nile all continue to overtax resources and stress society. The government has struggled to meet the demands of Egypt's growing population through economic reform and massive investment in communications and physical infrastructure.

Political pressure groups and leaders:

Muslim Brotherhood (technically illegal)
note: despite a constitutional ban against religious-based parties and political activity, the technically illegal Muslim Brotherhood constitutes Egypt's most potentially significant political opposition; President MUBARAK has alternated between tolerating limited political activity by the Brotherhood and blocking its influence (its members compete as independents in elections but do not currently hold any seats in the legislature); civic society groups are sanctioned, but constrained in practical terms; only trade unions and professional associations affiliated with the government are officially sanctioned; Internet social networking groups and bloggers.

In my next post on Egypt I will focus on why the Muslim Brotherhood must not be allowed to have a place in Egypt's government and expose just how dangerous the organization really is.

This is a tumultuous situation which calls for our thoughts and prayers.

Iran Has Been Protecting Osama Bin Laden, Al-Zawahiri & Top Aides

I first found this article over at Maggie's Notebook.  Here is an article which reveals where both Bin Laden and Al-Zawahiri have been hiding out for the past five years.

Osama bin Laden's hiding place was pinned down for the first time Monday, June 7, by the Kuwaiti Al-Siyassa Monday, June 7, as the mountainous town of Savzevar in the northeastern Iranian province of Khorasan, 220 km west of Mashhad. He is said to have lived there under Tehran's protection for the last five years, along with Ayman Al-Zawahiri and five other high-ranking al Qaeda leaders.

debkafile's intelligence sources disclosed Monday night that Turkish prime minister Recep Erdogan and his intelligence chiefs are well aware that Bin Laden and Zawahiri are hiding in Iran. The leak to the Kuwait paper was intended to show the Obama administration that the Turkish leader's ties with Iran had grown intense enough for him to be fully in the picture of Iran's secret sanctuary for the authors of the 9/11 attacks on the United States.

Savzevar, a small town of about a quarter of a million inhabitants, is connected by road to Tehran and Mashhad and has a small airport. A center for producing grapes and raisins, its location is remote and difficult to access because it is enclosed by lofty mountains and a salt desert 50,000 square kilometers in area.

On May 13, American intelligence sources reported in detail that senior al Qaeda operatives living in Iran had been allowed to leave the country through Syria to orchestrate terrorist attacks on American targets. Among them was Saif al-Adel, who is believed to have been assigned with planning an attack on the world soccer games opening in South Africa on June 12.

Those sources noted that Saif al-Adel had received his instructions directly from Osama bin Laden and Ayman Zawahiri but did not reveal knowledge of their presence in Iran.

debkafile's counter-terror sources disclose that the purpose of airing their precise whereabouts at this time, aside from implicating the Turkish leader, was first, to warn al Qaeda's leaders that their hideout was blown and they had better move on - which would make them easier to catch; and, second, to nudge US president Barak Obama into a decision to go after them.

A rare opportunity may now be building up to capture the world's most wanted terrorist, debkafile's counter-terror sources report. Last December, US Defense Secretary Robert Gates acknowledged the United States has not had any good intelligence on bin Laden's whereabouts in years. Until recently, the elusive master-terrorist was generally thought to have gone to ground in the wilder parts of Pakistan-Afghanistan border region.

An Ever Increasing Threat of a Nuclear Iran & The Continued Failed Policy of Appeasement

Many people are misguided in thinking that Muslims want nothing to do with the West, and in particular with the United States. On one hand Muslim Jihadists want to destroy the West, and on the other hand the peaceful Muslims want the West to rescue them from Tyranny. The protesters in Iran wanted Obama to stand up and support their cause and instead he reacted to their plight standoffishly.
Obama in his utopian peacenik philosophy envisions the United States to be nuclear free. This is a highly unrealistic and childish dream when Iran’s leader - Ahmadinejad- has openly expressed that he wants to wipe Israel off the map, that he is going to ignore and violate U.N. sanctions, and will further his cause to enrich uranium and possess nuclear weapons. The threat of Iran has loomed over us for many years but unfortunately no President from Jimmy Carter through the Obama administration has taken the initiative to deal with the threat head on. Carter’s appeasement approach in pleading for restraint to the Shah to preempt the use of “excessive force” led to the rise of The Islamic Republic of Iran.

Joseph Puder of Pajamas Media stated:

“Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter’s national security advisor, advised the president not to deal harshly with Ayatollah Khomeini and his cohorts lest a split occur within the Islamic opposition to the Russian presence in Afghanistan. At the time, both Democrats and Republicans considered the Islamists as a weapon against Soviet Communism and its local clients.
Few among today’s Capitol Hill legislators, and even fewer in the Obama administration, recognize the fact that U.S. credibility and deterrence are being compromised by the current U.S. policy towards Iran. The Arab Gulf states and Lebanon are hedging their bets on Iran emerging as the winner, and Saudi Arabia is also slowly moving towards Tehran, frustrated by America’s demonstrated weakness toward the Iranian mullahs.”

Iran has rejected key parts of a deal that the U.N. offered to them. This deal would have required Iran to ship 70% of its stock low-enriched uranium abroad in return for fuel for a medical research reactor. This regime has defied the Non-Proliferation Treaty without suffering any consequences. Iran has defied the United States deadline
Both Russia and China are heavily invested into Iranian oil and gas industries and would never approve of tougher sanctions against the Iranian regime. What the heck good is the U.N. if countries who are supposed to be keeping the world safe can be bought off or heavily influenced to vote against the tougher sanctions of Iran? In my opinion, the United States needs to kick the U.N. out of New York City and tell them to find a new home since they clearly have shown that they have an anti-American agenda that is equally clearly a threat to the safety of the United States.

Unfortunately, both the Clinton and Bush administrations continued policies of appeasement, to try and bribe Iran from continuing their uranium enrichment program. The Clinton administration sought a mega-deal with Iran by lifting sanctions, apologizing to Iranian mullahs, and the Bush administration sought to reach a deal with Iran in 2008 where the West would lift sanctions in exchange for Iran halting their uranium enrichment program. This bargaining and bribery with Iran must stop! The U.S. and other nations must take a hard-line stance and authoritatively tell Ahmadinejad that he is going to discontinue his uranium enrichment program or there will be serious consequences. This treating Iran with kid gloves must stop!!

During the Bush administration, an abrupt reality set in when Ahmadinejad spoke of the 12th Imam- The Shiite messiah- and the ensuing domination of the world in front of the General Assembly. Ahmadinejad made no remarks agreeing to stop uranium enrichment.

Obama continued these policies of appeasement, and in a big way. Obama not only apologized to Iran but to the whole Muslim world and continued the apology tour later on in Europe. U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton continued Obama’s policy of appeasement when on July 22, 2009 she stated that “we will still hold the door open for talks with Iran.” Since 1979 American presidents have persisted on attempting to appease hostile mullahs in order to reach an agreement.

“Iran knows all too well that once it is in possession of a nuclear weapon, it would deter any future U.S. military action and leave the mullahs free to stir up even greater troubles for Washington in Iraq and Afghanistan, for Israel in Gaza and from Lebanon, and for the Arab Gulf states.”

“It is not that the U.S. lacks options. The military option is certainly available. The U.S. has the forces to eliminate both the nuclear weapons and the current repressive regime. Washington could also arm and train the Iranian minorities against the regime. It has chosen neither. The Obama administration failed to support the Iranian opposition following the rigged August elections. It shudders at the thought of forcing a regime change in Iran because of political correctness, a signature value of this administration.
Iranian minorities who comprise more than half of the population are in a state of rebellion against the regime, ready to spill their blood to end the rule of the repressive regime and Ahmadinejad, a despised and unlawful president. The people are taking up arms against the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, killing and getting killed in the process. The Arabs of Ahwaz attempted and nearly succeeded in assassinating Ahmadinejad a few years ago.
And yet the Obama administration, like previous administrations, continues with policies of dishonor, sacrificing American deterrence and credibility. To the Iranians and Middle Eastern Arabs, America appears weak and unwilling to fight the Iranian mullahs. The situation is reminiscent of Neville Chamberlain’s appeasement of Hitler and the Nazis.”

Here is an interesting video showing foreign relations experts from Israel, Russia, and the United States discussing Russia’s dilemma with Iran. Russia decided to delay delivery of S-300 air defense missiles to Iran. Is the United States and Russia playing good cop and bad cop? I hope that Russia decides to stop this sale of defense missiles to Iran. I am a little puzzled by Russia’s so-called dilemma and what exactly that is. Russia just needs to take a hard line stance against Iran.

Now The IAEA says Iran enriches nuclear fuel.

The United Nations' nuclear watchdog said it has information suggesting Iran may be working to build a nuclear warhead, an assessment that could escalate the U.S. and other Western governments' confrontation with Iran over its nuclear activities.
The International Atomic Energy Agency, a Vienna-based U.N. body, said in a confidential report Thursday that Iran has impeded agency efforts to establish the true purpose of Tehran's nuclear program.

Now, countries all over the world must be on high alert and be willing to take the appropriate actions to halt Iran from enriching uranium to make a nuclear weapon. CONTINUED

Charles Krauthammer Speaks on The Age of Obama & The Decline of Obama

In this video, Charles Krauthammer speaks is in front of a crowd at The Heritage Foundation, and delivers a most fascinating and brilliant speech. This speech is on The Age of Obama, and the decline of Obama. I don't want to give away too much of what's in the video but I agree with the way Krauthammer characterizes Obama's pacifism, actually all pacifism, as being a childish notion. The fact that Obama thinks that Iran is a diversion is absurd. Iran is a threat that we must take seriously, instead of tossing it aside like a hot potato and forgetting about Iran's nuclear threat. That hot potato may come back to blow up in our faces (literally- BOOM!!!) if the Obama administration ignores this grave threat to our country. The Republicans need to bring up the issue of Iran often, so Obama cannot ignore this threat that Iran poses to the citizens of this great country. This speech itself is about 35 minutes long and starts (guessing here) about 5 minutes in from where the video begins. Enjoy!!! Grab a coffee or soda, and a snack and relax.

Warning: Get ready for a lot of cleavage.
