MIni Eagle Freedom Links -- Journey Edition -- 2-7-12

The past few weeks I have felt sooo tired. It is probably due to some medicine I'm taking. That is the main reason I haven't done a Eagle Freedom Links post or the mini version lately.  Plus, I'm on the hunt for a better job.

Zilla of Zilla Of The Resistance has moved her blog to a new site so please be sure and visit her new blog soon and often.

About a week or so ago we had the HHS decision mandating that all non-profit organizations provide contraception, sterilization procedures and abortion inducing pills even though that violates the conscience and religious liberty of citizens.  Another sign that Obama is an anti-constitutional tyrant who is imposing his beliefs (or lack thereof) on the American people. He is morally bankrupt IMO.  We must fight together against this unjust mandate.

Some questions: Who is your choice to be the GOP nominee out of those presently running?  If you could pick who would have been your choice for GOP nominee, excluding those presently running? What are the characteristics you look for in a President?  Do you have any prayer requests? If so, please do mention and myself as well as the rest of the conservative bloggers will keep your prayer intentions in our thoughts and prayers.

MIni Eagle Freedom Links -Coca-Cola Christmas--12-13-11

I have decided to do a series of Mini Eagle Freedom Links this week since I have been feeling fatigued. Probably partially due to my having a Vitamin B12 deficiency.  I'm working on remedying that.  I still get a little dizzy but thankfully not near as much as before.  Still waiting for results from my colonoscopy and endoscopy.  It still hurts when I breathe.  Not quite as bad as it was, thankfully. I am heading to the ENT doctor on Thursday to find out whether the tube that was in my throat during my surgery is what has caused my throat problems.  I am very thankful that I am in the process of fixing my medical issues and that I am feeling better than before.  The month of December seems to be flying by very quickly. Is everyone ready for Christmas?  Got all your holiday decorations up and presents wrapped?  Still shopping for that special person?  I still need to put up my Christmas tree and decorations.  Have you been watching any Christmas movies?  I hope everyone is enjoying this Christmas season.

Medical Procedures.... Some Links... And Christmas Carols

I will be undergoing a couple medical procedures tomorrow so I will be taking the day off from blogging.  Here are some worthwhile links.

Judicial Watch has uncovered some documents which shows that the "pro-life" executive order Obama signed after the passage of Obamacare ain't worth the piece of paper its signed on.  The rest of the story is here.

Ron Paul breaks ranks from a Republican Conference earmark moratorium.  He is one of four Republicans to include earmarks in the 2011 budget.  More here.

Beck asked some hard-hitting questions in his interview with Newt Gingrich.  I thought that it was a pretty good interview.  Here is the interview.

Gingrich has affirmed his pro-life views after having made a bumbling misstatement answer to a question on when he believes life begins. More here.

Then we have some thuggery occurring in the Windy City.  Two people brutally beat an 80-year old priest as he lay asleep in his rectory.  Prayers for his healing.  Full story here.

The NAACP has petitioned the U.N. over what it perceives to be 'voter suppression'.  The NAACP claims that blacks and Hispanics will be disenfranchised in the next election. Such absurdities.... What some states have instituted is voter registration or voter I.D. requirements in order to prove citizenship when voting.  The U.N. better stay the heck out of our next election.   Story here.

On Foreign Policy, Ron Paul, and Missionaries

Before starting this post I want to let everyone know that my entire family will be getting together to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary so from tomorrow through Sunday I will be taking a break from blogging.  Hopefully next week my blogging will return back to normal, including Eagle Freedom Links and a rule 5 post returning next Saturday and Sunday.

Our foreign policy is so muddled right now that its mission needs to be much better defined and more limited in nature.  While I do think that Ron Paul's foreign policy is isolationalist to a degree (not trade policy) he makes some very good points about the U.S. needing to be less comingled/intertwined in other country's affairs.  While I still believe that it was right for us to enter both Iraq and Afghanistan to stop both perceived and imminent threats, I also think that in the case of Libya, Egypt, Africa, and other Middle Eastern countries' uprisings that we should stay out of those countries' affairs and Ron Paul is correct in saying that we should stop policing the world unless a country would be subjected to a Rwanda-style massacre.  In the case of Afghanistan we were responding to an act of war - 9/11 - just like we did after Pearl Harbor was attacked during WWII.

I do think that it is good if the United States influences other nations but should that necessarily include our military involvement?  Missionaries take care of the needy all over the world.  Their mission is to evangelize, help educate, assist with medical care, and bring the message of Christ around the world.  Maybe missionaries would have more success at converting individuals in foreign lands into a more civilized lifestyle where people are tolerant of all religions, so that those of different faiths could coexist as equals in civil society rather than U.S. militarily try to change the countries and its people?  Maybe we should leave the changing of minds, hearts, and souls to missionaries instead of having the military try to influence these peoples?

Now, if there is an imminent threat to our nation's national security I do think it would be necessary for us to respond militarily.

Eagle Freedom Linkarama

Instead of doing my Eagle Freedom Links today I have decided to do something a little different.  This is partially due to my not having enough time to do my links and due to my health situation.

John from Sentry Journal has posted an important message that Judge Napolitano had for the Occupy Wall Street Protesters.  The only thing I disagree about is Judge's implication that if people are for the defense of our nation when there is an imminent threat or even a perceived imminent threat to our freedom and people are for defending those threats by having wars in those countries which threaten our freedom that that makes a person anti-liberty or anti-freedom.  What would have happened if we had ignored Hitler?  I would equate the threat of Muslim extremists with that of Hitler.

The Lonely Conservative highlights some good aspects of Herman Cain's 9-9-9 Plan.  Overall I like his plan but I do have concerns with starting a new tax, a national sales tax.

Atlas Shrugs informs us that Con Ed is will evict the Mosqueteer. This is great news!  The Ground Zero Mosqueteer is a deadbeat who has failed to pay back loans, back taxes and pay his rent.  He tried to get taxpayers to foot the bill but thank goodness didn't get what he requested.  The man obviously needs to find a new line of work, one where he can pay his own bills.

The Daley Gator lets us know that the Nazi Party has endorsed the Occupy Wall Street Protest.  I have seen evidence of anti-semitism at the protest.

Not too far from where I live here in Pa we had a steel bridge stolen.  Your probably thinking how did someone or someones steal a whole bridge.  I thought the same thing when I first heard about this.  Yes, really a whole bridge was stolen.  Apparently two brothers used a blow-torch to steal the bridge and scored over $5000 by selling the scrap metal from their thievery.

Leaders of 20 Catholic organizations have signed a letter which was sent to both Congress and the Obama administration which declares that Obamacare needs to be reformed in order to protect conscience rights.  Thanks for standing up for everyone's conscience rights Catholic organizations.  This HHS mandate needs to be changed because it is against our religious liberty and civil rights.

More Than 2000 Military Chaplains Say "No" To Homosexual "Marriage"

There is no such thing as homosexual "marriage".  It is against the natural law.

Christian students at Messiah College react to Frances Fox-Piven's address.   I couldn't believe what she actually admitted about the Tea Party at the end of the video.

Matt of Conservative Hideout shows a video showing a great moment in civil discourse.  The Tea Party meets Occupy Wall Street.  The way Occupy Wall Street protesters react shows just how much they truly believe in "diversity" and "tolerance".

A Catholic friar calls Catholic politicians who do nothing to stop abortion "liars"  I love it. Go Fr. Gregory Coiro, O.F.M.Cap!!!  He called out "Catholic" politicians who don't vote like Catholics at all.  Keep on speaking up Father.  I'm behind you 100%.

Ann Barnhardt responds to a death threat.  Her response is pure gold.  May God Bless her and keep her safe.
The Conservative Lady shows us that Obama knew about the troubles with Operation Fast and Furious earlier than Holder has admitted knowing of the fiasco.  Eric Holder is either a liar or is utterly incompetent, or both.  He's probably both.  He needs to resign.

I am having my surgery tomorrow so I won't be around the next few days.  Have a great week, my friends.

I will leave you with Ron Paul's powerful pro-life ad.

H/T The Blaze

Question On Ron Paul: Is the ignored really ignoring media requests?

Apparently Ron Paul was invited on The O'Reilly Factor after complaining to Megyn Kelly that he was being ignored by the media after his close 2nd in the Iowa Straw Poll. Can complainers be choosers? I mean is Ron Paul really being too choosy with which show he gets interviewed on or is he really being ignored by the media?  I wonder whether he has been invited on other shows and refused to be interviewed?  From my perspective it seems like it is a little of both. What are your thoughts?

Ron Paul Confronts Ben Bernanke: Is Gold Money?

I Found this on WhatisGold.net:

Gold is Money
Gold has always been accepted around the world as a means of exchange and a store of value - the mark of good money. Gold is money because it is uniquely suited for being our money, not because it's shiny and fancy looking, but because it is actually the most practical choice. What makes Gold the good money? Gold is money because gold is durable. Other choices from the past like wheat, hemp, fish, cows, or even people, cannot endure the test of time - only gold can. Gold is money because Gold is divisible and consistent. Pure gold is worth exactly the same amount per unit regardless of how it is divided; it is all just gold. Making change for a cow is far too messy, cumbersome and subjective. If you take a pretty, shiny, 1 ounce coin and chop it in half with a hatchet, you have two half ounce pieces of gold. Melt it down and pour it into 10 1/10 ounces and all 10 pieces together will equal the value of the original one ounce gold piece. Gold is money because gold is portable. One ounce of gold has almost always had the same 'purchasing power' throughout history.

It is said that in Rome, one ounce of gold would buy a nice toga, a belt and a pair of shoes. Today, an ounce of gold is worth about $1400 so this is relatively accurate. One ounce of gold won't buy you the best suit on the market, but that tiny little one ounce coin packs a purchasing power punch; $1400 in the palm of your hand. A hand bag filled with gold coins, about the same weight as Paris Hilton's dog (say three pounds), would be worth around $70000! Gold is well-suited for travelling or moving abroad because people around the world accept it. And, lastly and perhaps most misunderstood, gold is money because it has intrinsic value, it is extra ordinarily useful in ways that nothing else on earth or the known universe is useful.

Gold, in the form of gold nanoparticles, is used in extremely high technology like space travel and cutting edge cancer treatments. Gold is both the most ductile (one ounce can be pulled into an extremely thin wire 35 miles long!) and most malleable (can be pounded into an extremely thin wafer, so thin that light passes through it - 1 5/1000000 of an inch thin!) element in the known universe. Gold is the second best conductor of heat and electricity next to silver. Paired with gold's rarity, gold's amazing properties make it extremely valuable as money and to the progress of science and technology and ultimately mankind. For now, you can easily make an Investment in Gold, Trade Gold Online, and Save your Wealth in Gold. Just hurry and buy gold now because, as the prices rise, it won't always be this easy! Gold is money, gold is the world’s true money.

"The great merit of gold is precisely that it is scarce; that its quantity is limited by nature; that it is costly to discover, to mine, and to process; and that it cannot be created by political fiat or caprice." ~ Henry Hazlitt

Ron Paul's Common Sense Solutions For Health Care Problems

This is a wonderful repost from My Thoughts on Freedom in which Chris posted Ron Paul's common sense solutions to the health care problems in America.

Before the US House of Representatives, September 23, 2009

Government has been mismanaging medical care for more than 45 years; for every problem it has created it has responded by exponentially expanding the role of government.

Points to consider:

1.No one has a right to medical care. If one assumes such a right, it endorses the notion that some individuals have a right to someone else’s life and property. This totally contradicts the principles of liberty.

2.If medical care is provided by government, this can only be achieved by an authoritarian government unconcerned about the rights of the individual.

3.Economic fallacies accepted for more than 100 years in the United States have deceived policy makers into believing that quality medical care can only be achieved by government force, taxation, regulations, and bowing to a system of special interests that creates a system of corporatism.

4.More dollars into any monopoly run by government never increases quality but it always results in higher costs and prices.

5.Government does have an important role to play in facilitating the delivery of all goods and services in an ethical and efficient manner.

6.First, government should do no harm. It should get out of the way and repeal all the laws that have contributed to the mess we have.

7.The costs are obviously too high but in solving this problem one cannot ignore the debasement of the currency as a major factor.

8.Bureaucrats and other third parties must never be allowed to interfere in the doctor/patient relationship.

9.The tax code, including the ERISA laws, must be changed to give everyone equal treatment by allowing a 100% tax credit for all medical expenses.

10.Laws dealing with bad outcomes and prohibiting doctors from entering into voluntary agreements with their patients must be repealed. Tort laws play a significant role in pushing costs higher, prompting unnecessary treatment and excessive testing. Patients deserve the compensation; the attorneys do not.

11.Insurance sales should be legalized nationally across state lines to increase competition among the insurance companies.

12.Long-term insurance policies should be available to young people similar to term-life insurances that offer fixed prices for long periods of time.

13.The principle of insurance should be remembered. Its purpose in a free market is to measure risk, not to be used synonymously with social welfare programs. Any program that provides for first-dollar payment is no longer insurance. This would be similar to giving coverage for gasoline and repair bills to those who buy car insurance or providing food insurance for people to go to the grocery store. Obviously, that could not work.

14.The cozy relationship between organized medicine and government must be reversed. Early on, medical insurance was promoted by the medical community in order to boost re-imbursements to doctors and hospitals. That partnership has morphed into the government/insurance industry still being promoted by the current administration.

15.Threatening individuals with huge fines by forcing them to buy insurance is a boon to the insurance companies.

16.There must be more competition for individuals entering into the medical field. Licensing strictly limits the number of individuals who can provide patient care. A lot of problems were created in 20th century as a consequence the Flexner Report (1910), which was financed by the Carnegie Foundation and strongly supported by the AMA. Many medical schools were closed and the number of doctors was drastically reduced. The motivation was to close down medical schools that catered to women, minorities and especially homeopathy. We continue to suffer from these changes, which were designed to protect physician’s income and promote allopathic medicine over the more natural cures and prevention of homeopathic medicine.

17.We must remove any obstacles for people seeking holistic and nutritional alternatives to current medical care. We must remove the threat of further regulations pushed by the drug companies now working worldwide to limit these alternatives.

True competition in the delivery of medical care is what is needed, not more government meddling.
